Streetreach
(including Pamper Night)
Streetreach provides a confidential support service for those involved in prostitution, with the goal of encouraging them to exit from prostitution, and be empowered in the choices they make in their everyday life.
Streetreach actually teaches their clients how to make informed decisions in regards to their personal life. We introduce courses and “life-skills” teaching which provides better choice alternatives. We show love through practical acts of service.
The four primary channels for providing care is through the following services:
- Through van visits on the streets (9pm-1am) – providing hot drinks and supper from the van
- Phone support
- The drop-in centre at the Life Centre Trust premises
- An annual pamper night where over 1500 women come with their children and are showered with over $40,000 worth of donated product (e.g. make-up, nails, lovely supper, karaoke and gifts etc)
Right now we have connection with about 500 prostitutes and have regular contact from clinics, refuge centres and other agencies.
Why Streetreach?
We believe that the underlying nature of prostitution is harmful to those involved and therefore we aim to identify the issues involved in prostitution and work alongside the sex-workers and families.
We believe that by addressing the deep issues of prostitution through counselling and self-assessment, this will deal with some of the deep hurts that occur in the lives of those working in this industry.
