COVID-19 and Church: A Message from our Senior Pastor
Update: 24th March 2020
As I am sure you are all aware, our Government has decided to raise the COVID-19 Alert to Level 4 as of midnight Wednesday 25th March, to safeguard the health and best interests of our nation. As a church, let’s all continue to honour our leaders and pray for them as they face such a challenging season.
This does mean our ability to meet, as a church, in this season will be very different. Our staff, however, have been working hard in preparation for this eventuality and want to assure you that we will continue to have amazing Sunday services on Church Online throughout the lockdown period over the next four weeks.
Although we won’t be able to meet together, let’s all be proactive in encouraging everyone we know in this time of anxiety and fear to join us online on Sundays at one of our services which will be streaming at 9:00am, 11:00am and 6:00pm.
Thank you for all your prayers and support during this time. Our first exclusively online service received amazing feedback from around New Zealand, Australia and the rest of the globe. I am committed to bringing the message of hope during this challenging season, and firmly believe that what the enemy meant for evil, God will use it for good.
I would love you to join me as I live-stream a daily devotional at 7:00am every weekday morning, where I will bring a word of encouragement for the day ahead. Check out my Instagram at @pauldejongnz.
Our Groups will also continue to meet mid-week and have moved from in-home Groups to online video hangouts. We are already getting some great feedback from Groups who have started online. During this unprecedented time of restriction, it remains more important than ever for us to be purposeful in staying connected.
If you’re not part of a Group, check out our website here to find one, as there are hundreds of Groups you could be part of. Also, if you would like to host an online Group, email your Campus Pastor and let them know.
Once again, can we encourage everyone to be praying for affected communities around the world and for continued protection from further spread of the virus across our city and nation – and as our Prime Minister encouraged us, “be kind”. Let’s look after those in our families, communities and church, with constant calls, texts and practical help where applicable.
John 13:35 says “By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”
Finally, if you have health-related concerns about COVID-19, phone the dedicated COVID-19 Healthline (for free) on 0800 358 5453 and please let your Campus team know.
For all general enquiries regarding COVID-19 or the lockdown, please visit the official government site.
I am so proud of our church at this time, and Maree and I are praying for you all and believing for God’s protection and blessing.
Ps Paul, Maree & The Team at LIFE
