DAY ONE

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24–27

At the close of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus draws a dividing line between himself and any other foundation for life. The evidence of whether one is truly a believer is in whether one does the words of Jesus. Disciples who build their lives on the bedrock of Jesus and his message of the kingdom of heaven are truly wise, regardless of the shifting cultural or religious fashions.

Ponder:
What parts of your life might currently be built on sand? Consider praying that God would show you how you might surrender these areas to Him and allow Him to be your foundation.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I long to be wise. I want to be a disciple with their life built on the rock. Thank You that Your Word is true and trustworthy in every way. Help me to surrender every aspect of my life into Your hands and be not just a hearer but a doer of Your word. Let my life be conformed to Your way, not the ways of this world that would lead me astray.
In Jesus Name I pray, amen.
