Day 2

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Without Jesus, there is no rest. Sabbath is an invitation to come, to lay down our burdens and remember that in Jesus, the brokenness and troubles of this world have been overcome.

Jesus is our rest and restoration. In His presence is peace and the presence of God.
In Sabbath rest, we set aside a time to honor Jesus, trust God’s invitation to come to him and surrender our time, and we become places where his presence can dwell.

Ponder:
What burdens have you been carrying that need to be laid down at the feet of Jesus?

Take a moment to mentally, or physically if you can, lift your hands in a posture of surrender as you allow His presence to surround you and His peace to overcome your concerns.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I admit that I am weary and burdened. I try to do too much and lean on my own understanding. Lord, You gave me rest as a gift. Help me to remember that I don’t have to do life on my own. You are always there for me, far greater than any challenge I might face. Today I lay down my worries and take up Your yoke, the yoke of Your presence. Thank You, God. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
